RAM 1500 is a popular truck model manufactured by RAM. In 2019, the company introduced a new generation of RAM 1500, while continuing to manufacture the older generation model. The new-body style truck is known as the RAM DT, and the old-body style truck is called the RAM DS and is now known as the RAM 1500 Classic. Both trucks have their differences, including exterior design, engine options, and technology.
The RAM DT has a bolder grille, a higher profile, plus the headlights and RAM logo set higher. The lower air intake and fog lamps are also mounted higher on the bumper, giving the DT a more aggressive look than the DS. The RAM DT has two cab configurations: Quad Cab and Crew Cab. The RAM 1500 Classic has three cab configurations: Quad Cab, Crew Cab, and a Single Cab option.
The RAM DT offers two gas engine options and a diesel option, while the RAM DS has two gas engine options. The RAM DT can tow up to 12,750 lbs and carry up to 2,302 lbs, while the RAM DS has a maximum towing rating of 5,020 lbs and can carry up to 1,923 lbs. The RAM DT has two different sized payload beds, while the RAM 1500 Classic has only one cargo bed.
The RAM DT features an impressive infotainment system touchscreen, with most trims featuring an 8.4-inch touchscreen and the top trims featuring a 12-inch touchscreen. The RAM 1500 Classic has a comfortable, well-designed interior, but it doesn't compare to the luxurious materials and features in the RAM DT.
In conclusion, the RAM 1500 DT has more capability and options in terms of performance, while the RAM 1500 Classic is suitable for those who don't need high capabilities. Both trucks are excellent choices, and the decision ultimately depends on your needs and preferences.
